Since most of us did not grow up watching and playing soccer, we hope the links below will add to your enjoyment as you watch your child play the game the rest of the world calls "football".
And if you really want to get into the full details of the game:
FIFA Laws of the Game (pdf)Parents are a very important part of the AYSO experience. We want to make AYSO a family event where both kids and parents can have an enjoyable experience. How you react and behave during practices and games has a direct impact on your child's experience.
To help ensure that every child has the best experience possible, parents should read the following Parent Guidelines.
In addition, AYSO has a parent education program called Kids Zone. The Kid Zone
Program lays out a set of rules that every parent entering an AYSO event must pledge to abide by. For more
information see the Kids Zone page.
They eat like a horse with a tapeworm! But are they getting all the nutrition needed for a growing body engaging in a strenuous season of soccer? Check out the following tips in Feed Your Athlete
AYSO and Region 462 is dedicated to the welfare and safety of your child while they are
engaging in soccer activities. All coaches and referees are required go through AYSO approved training to learn the
skills required to make sure the game is safe and enjoyable for everyone. Training appropriate to the division level
is provided for the coaches and referees.
Further, all volunteers are required to complete the Safe Haven program. Safe Haven is a child and volunteer protection program developed by AYSO that was the first of its kind in youth sports. The child protection aspect of the program is intended to stop child abuse, educate or remove its perpetrators, and screen out predators before they get into the program.
The Safe Haven program can be taken online by either clicking the Safe Haven logo or clicking here.
